Art as a Cross-Curricular Connector

This professional development workshop for Pre-K-12 teachers will explore how classroom teachers can use art to collaborate across disciplines. Using the exhibition Becoming Another: The Power of Masks as inspiration, teachers from all disciplines will engage with art and brainstorm: How can art inspire writing? Is close looking in the galleries different from scientific observation? Can social studies and math connect? The day will include gallery time, exploration of artifacts from our teaching collection and art-making, as well as time to plan lessons and discuss with other teachers the successes and challenges of implementing cross-curricular lessons.
