Spiral Music presents acoustic music every Wednesday evening at the base of the Museum’s spiral staircase. Artists who specialize in music from the Himalayas and South Asia are invited to forge a connection between their music and the art in the galleries.

About the Musician

Asuka Yoshizaki is a composer and performer from Tokyo, who plays the: koto and jiuta shamisen..

She graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, one of the most esteemed universities of Japanese traditional music. She is influenced by her father, Katsuhiko Yoshizaki, a composer, koto player, and authority in the modern Japanese koto industry.

She has performed at concerts around the world, including a performance dedicated to the Princess of Thailand, a ceremony commemorating the normalizing of diplomatic relations between Japan and Korea, and a Japanese-German joint concert in Germany and Austria.

She has collaborated with the dance organization Quick Style and with the musicians Jazztronik, Monday Michiru, Simon Marvin, and others. She also co-founded the unit YY with beat maker Wocasi in 2016.
