Dawoud + Jimmy Lopez

Spiral Music presents acoustic music every Wednesday evening at the base of the Museum’s spiral staircase. Artists who specialize in music from the Himalayas and South Asia are invited to forge a connection between their music and the art in the galleries.

About the Musicians

Dawoud (sitar) has studied many styles of music, from Indian raga and Arabic maqam to jazz and electronica. He will be performing improvisations on ancient and modern motifs that cross cultural boundaries.

Jimmy Lopez (percussion) is a student, explorer, and lover of world percussion instruments and electronics. Combining global ethnic playing techniques with his diverse percussion palette, Lopez has collaborated and toured regularly with notable popular musicians. When not traveling, he is a music educator in public schools.
