American Yogi

A psychotherapist revisits his past and reinvents his future

Friday, February 9, 2018
7:00 PM–9:00 PM

American Yogi, 2017, USA/India, Steven Newmark, 87 mins.

The mystic Maharaj-Ji Neem Karoli Baba influenced a generation of seekers and touched the lives of Ram Dass, Steve Jobs, and Mark Zuckerberg. Psychotherapist Steven Newmark became fascinated with Maharaj-Ji but failed to take the trip to India before his death. When Newmark finally revisits his past spiritual interests to put meaning back in his life, he sets off for India in search of Maharaj-Ji and encounters what can only be described as miracles.

“People who have not made the trip to India or met a guru like Maharaj-ji will find American Yogi an inspiration for their spiritual journey.”

—Ram Dass (Richard Alpert)

American Yogi includes a soundtrack by Grammy nominee Jai Uttal, exclusive interviews with Ram Dass and Krishna Das, and rare footage of Maharaj-Ji Neem Karoli Baba.

Screenings will be followed by a Q&A with director Dr. Steven Newmark.
