Becoming Animal

Imagine Science Film Festival North American Premiere

Wednesday, October 17, 2018
7:00 PM–8:30 PM

2018, Emma Davie and Peter Mettler, UK/Switzerland, 77 min.

An urgent and immersive audiovisual quest, Becoming Animal forges a path into places where humans and animals meet. Shot in and around Grand Teton National Park, with its dizzying diversity of wildlife, trails of curious humans in RVs, and billion-year-old geology, the film is an invitation to explore our relationship with this “more than human world” and recognize it for what it is: an exquisitely intricate system in which everything is alive and expressive, humans, animals and landscapes are inextricably interdependent, and there is no such thing as empty space.

Becoming Animal is a collaboration between filmmakers Peter Mettler (The End of Time), Emma Davie (I Am Breathing), and writer and philosopher David Abram (The Spell of the Sensuous). A Q&A with Emma Davie will follow the film screening.

This special screening is part of the series Karma: Ancient Wisdom Meets the Future, in which we question our relationship to nature in order to better understand what a sustainable future could look like.
