Integrative medicine pioneer Dr. Deepak Chopra shares his thoughts about the Vedas with the Minister of the Vedanta Society of New York, Swami Sarvapriyananda. The Vedanta is a body of teachings that interpret the Upanishads, the early scriptures of the Indic wisdom tradition. The ultimate nature of reality and identity through time and space will form the core of the discussion. In other words: it is about everything there is.

This program begins with a special tour of the exhibition The Second Buddha: Master of Time.

A world-renowned pioneer in integrative medicine and personal transformation, Deepak Chopra, MD, FACP, is the founder of the Chopra Foundation and the cofounder of Jiyo.com and the Chopra Center for Wellbeing. TIME magazine has described Dr. Chopra as “One of the top 100 heroes and icons of the century.” Dr. Chopra is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Metabolism, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, Clinical Professor in Medicine at the University of California, San Diego, Adjunct Professor at Kellogg School of Executive Management at Northwestern, Adjunct Professor at Columbia Business School, Columbia University, and Professor of Consciousness Studies at Sofia University. The WorldPost and Huffington Post global internet survey ranked Chopra “#17 influential thinker in the world and #1 in Medicine.” He is a prolific author of more than 85 books translated into over 43 languages, with 25 New York Times bestsellers, including You Are the Universe. His latest book, The Healing Self, with co-author Dr. Rudolph E. Tanzi, was released January 30, 2018.

Swami Sarvapriyananda is the Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York. Previously he was an Assistant Minister at the Vedanta Society of Southern California. Swami joined the Ramakrishna Math and Mission (Belur, India) in 1994 (Sannyas in 2004). Before moving to the United States in 2015 he served in various capacities: Vice Principal, Deoghar Vidyapith Higher Secondary School; Principal, Shikshana Mandira Teacher Education College; Registrar, Vivekananda University; and Acharya (Spiritual Teacher), Monastic Probationers’ Training Centre at Belur Math. This is his second onstage appearance at the Rubin Museum.
