Join us for a screening of Flames of Bodhicitta, a documentary film by Tibetan filmmaker Lhaksam that centers on the 133 Tibetans who have self immolated since 2009. Exploring recent events in Tibet from multiple perspectives, both from within and outside the Tibetan Plateau, the 90 minute film will be followed by a Q&A with the director.

About the Director

Dorjee Tsering, better known by the name Lhaksam, is one of only a handful Tibetan filmmakers in exile. “Whatever I do, it comes straight from my heart,” says Lhaksam. “And my heart always echoes, SAVE HUMANITY.” Lhaksam was born into a Tibetan refugee family in Darjeeling, India and came to the United States in 2002. He made his first film with a group of friends in 2004. In addition to his own films, his news coverage has also appeared worldwide in outlets such as NBC, Reuters and Voice of America.
