My Tibetan Lamas

Lama Surya Das

Wednesday, August 5, 2015
6:30 PM–8:30 PM

Internationally known spiritual leader and best-selling author of Awakening the Buddha Within and Make Me One With Everything Lama Surya Das will present My Tibetan Lamas.

Produced by Lama Surya Das, the film has been described as a “darshan” film, audience with the saints— composed of historic video images and expert narration that provide an overview of Tibetan Buddhism as practiced in its original Himalayan setting, including many up close images of the great lamas who were teachers of Lama Surya Das, such as the Dalai Lama and his teacher Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, the Sixteenth Karmapa, Dudjom Rinpoche, Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, Kalu Rinpoche and many others. Many images in the film are clips from personal videos not otherwise available, rough cuts of early attempts to document the story of the great lamas and a few include footage from more recent commercial efforts. The film’s soundtrack includes clips from Lama Surya Das’ popular CD, Chants to Awaken the Buddhist Heart. Lama Surya Das will narrate the film and will also share stories of his more than 20 years of study and travel in India and Tibet. He will also take questions from the audience.
