Ruthie Foster

Naked Soul

Friday, October 14, 2016
7:00 PM–8:30 PM

The Rubin Museum is thrilled to welcome the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Ruthie Foster to the Naked Soul stage for the first time. From houses of worship to houses of blues, Foster has always been a rafter-rattler. With a soul-filled voice honed in Texas churches, she can move audiences to tears or ecstasy—sometimes in a single song. Each of her two albums, The Truth According to Ruthie Foster (2009) and Let It Burn (2012), moved the Recording Academy to deliver Grammy nominations for “Best Blues Album.” She is now touring in support of her most recent release, Promise of a Brand New Day.

About Naked Soul

Naked Soul presents performances from some of the country’s top singer/songwriters without microphones or amplifiers, as if the music were, acoustically speaking, naked. The musicians in the series draw upon the universal themes inherent in Himalayan art—spirituality, peace, tolerance, wisdom, compassion—on select Friday evenings. Learn More
