Tibetan doctor Yangbum Gyal talks about the successes and challenges of marrying traditional Tibetan precepts with western biomedical treatments.

Dr. Gyal is currently practicing Tibetan medicine and acupuncture at the Medicine Buddha Healing Center in Spring Green, WI and at the Life Force Healing Center in Evanston, IL. He talks about his experience in marrying traditional Tibetan precepts with western biomedical treatments.
Dr. Gyal is a Tibetan medical doctor and certified acupuncturist who has been practicing Tibetan medicine for the last 20 years. Dr. Gyal received his BTMS (Bachelor in Tibetan Medical Science) from Malho Medical School in Qinghai Province, P.R. China and his Menrampa (Doctor of Tibetan Medicine) from Men-Tsee-Khang (Tibetan Medical & Astrological Institute) in India, and his Diploma of Acupuncture from the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine, Racine, Wisconsin, USA. He authored the Tibetan Medical Dietary Book: Vol I, The Potency and Preparation of Vegetables (Men-Tsee-Khang, 2004) and has published and presented papers on Tibetan medicine and health topics. An accomplished translator, he translated One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Alexander Solzhenitsyn into Tibetan, which was published by Gansu Nationality Publishing House (2013), P.C. China.
