Tibetan Mantra Healing

with Drukmo Gyal

Saturday, April 28, 2018
3:00 PM–4:30 PM

Tibetan Mantra Healing is the practice of using sound and vibration as a medium to heal body and mind. As a singer and a practitioner of Tibetan Medicine specializing in mantra healing, Drukmo Gyal finds herself in a unique position between ancient tradition and emerging science. Her lecture-concerts intimately involve the audience, inviting us to experience how sound affects the mind and body through active listening and direct participation in mantra recitation, paired with visualization techniques. Drukmo will share traditional and original Tibetan/Sanskrit mantras and explain how these teachings can be used to heal the present self and enable collective healing in the future.

Drukmo Gyal Dakini (voice)
Adam Maalouf (cello, frame drum, hand pan, percussion)
Adrian DiMatteo (guitar, voice)

Presented in partnership with the Colibrí Community and Golden Drum.

About the Musicians

Drukmo Gyal Dakini was born in the northeastern part of Tibet into a Tibetan yogi family where mantra, yoga, and meditation were introduced at a young age. With support from the local Tibetan yogic community, she began practicing mantras with ancient melodies and started singing publicly in 2008. She moved to Europe in 2014, produced her first album, Purification Voice of Tibet, and began touring in European countries, Russia, Malaysia, and China with local musicians. Her second album, Tibetan Mantra Healing, was released in 2016 and highlights the ancient healing system of Sowa Rigpa, traditional Tibetan medicine as it was taught to her by Dr. Nida Chenagtsang, a direct lineage holder and founder of Sorig Khang International. Drukmo Gyal travels the world, singing, teaching Tibetan Mantra Healing, the Kunye Healing massage, and guiding retreats in the Yuthok Nyingthig tradition, the meditation practice of Tibetan physicians
