Friday night screenings of classic films from around the world which explore themes featured in the museum's galleries. Each film is introduced by a notable guest to provide context.
Inspired by Nepalese Seasons: Rain and Ritual, this summer Cabaret Cinema showcases classic rain-drenched films that allude to the power of the downpour. From Wellington boots to wet saris, rain in cinema brings about more than a shift in sartorial perspective; it is a life-affirming, awe-inspiring, and terrifying force. Notable introducers (including a few meteorologists) will help the audience to understand the importance of cinematic showers as harbingers of elemental emotional states.
Our ticket policy has changed for Cabaret Cinema. Tickets are now free for Members and are $10 for non-Members, and can be purchased in advance on-line or at our front desk. Member tickets for Cabaret Cinema not picked up by 9:30 pm will be released.
