Carmen Mensink, artist and thangka painter, is returning this summer to lead a Tibetan Buddhist amulet-making class. Many Tibetan amulets are made by carefully folding special papers around medicinal herbs. Wrapped with five colored threads, each color relates to one of five elements, which are believed to foster good health, a long life, and to remove obstacles. Participants will learn how amulets function within the Tibetan Buddhist context and then create their own customized amulets. No previous art-making experience necessary. All materials included.

Instructor: Carmen Mensink
