There will be a book signing for I Can Give You Anything but Love with Gary Indiana at 8:00 p.m.

To mark the publication of his memoir, I Can Give You Anything but Love, author Gary Indiana picks through the unabashedly wicked and revealing montage of excursions into his life with artist Tracey Emin. Indiana’s book depicts his early days growing up gay in rural New Hampshire, his escape to Haight-Ashbury in the post”“summer-of-love era, the sweltering 1970s in Los Angeles, and ultimately his life in New York in the 1980s as a bona fide downtown personality.

About the Speakers

Gary Indiana is celebrated as one of the last great radical voices in American literature and has been described by the London Review of Books as “one of the most brilliant critics writing in America today.” The New York Observer said that Indiana is “One of the most woefully underappreciated writers of the last thirty years.” His biting wit and mastery of prose has left an imprint on contemporary fiction, nonfiction, criticism, essays, and poetry.

Tracey Emin uses her life events as inspiration for art works ranging from painting, drawing, video, and installation to photography, needlework, and sculpture. She was born in London and has exhibited extensively including solo and group exhibitions in Holland, Germany, Japan, Australia, and America. In 2007 Emin represented Britain at the Fifty-Second Venice Biennale and was made a Royal Academician. During the Edinburgh Festival in 2008, Emin’s survey 20 Years opened at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art and was then exhibited at Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga, Spain, and the Kunstmuseum Bern, Switzerland. In May 2011 Emin had a major solo exhibition at the Hayward, London. Emin currently lives and works in London.
