Animals in the Himalayas: The Journey Continues

This session continues the exploration of animals in the Himalayan region. A special focus on hybrid animals, those fantastic creatures formed from elements of various other animals, will take visitors on an adventure into the galleries to explore examples in the art.

Program led by Rubin Museum docent Denise Murphy

About the Speaker

Denise Murphy has been a docent at the Rubin since 2006 and has worked in public health for more than thirty-five years. She is a graduate recruiter and adjunct faculty member for the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing at Hunter College. She has previously worked as the infection control coordinator and associate clinical professor at the New York University College of Dentistry and an occupational health consultant for the United States Public Health Service Region II. She also served in Africa and India with the Peace Corps and built houses with Habitat for Humanity in Paraguay. She serves on the boards of the Bellevue Alumnae Association and Nurses House and has published in professional journals, including a recent article inspired by the Rubin Museum’s exhibition Bodies in Balance: The Art of Tibetan Medicine.
