Can a sound lead to personal transformation? As a practitioner of Tibetan Medicine specializing in mantra healing, Drukmo Gyal finds herself in a unique position between ancient tradition and emerging science. Her lecture-concerts intimately involve the audience, inviting us to experience how sound affects the mind and body through active listening and direct participation in mantra recitation, paired with visualization techniques. Recognizing that everything carries vibration is an essential step towards realizing that sound and light—music and visual art—are deeply related.

Presented with Golden Drum.

About the Performer

Drukmo Gyal was raised in the Amdo region of the Northeastern part of Tibet in a yogi family where mantra, yoga, and meditation were shared through her family lineage. Her family follows the Nyingma tradition but her personal practices is Yuthok Nyingthig, a non-sectarian tradition that belongs to Tibetan medicine. With support from the Tibetan yogi community, Drukmo Gyal has practiced mantras with ancient melodies. She began singing publicly in 2008, and was ranked in the top 40 in a Chinese national singing contest in 2010, but drew back from a possible singing career to pursue university studies. She went to Europe in 2014 and released her first album, Purification Voice Of Tibet, in Spain in 2015. She has toured Europe, Russia, Malaysia, and China with local musicians in concert halls, as well as hospitals, disability centers, and senior homes.

Her second album, Tibetan Mantra Healing (2016) is inspired by an ancient healing system that belongs to Traditional Tibetan Medicine. She has studied Traditional Tibetan Medicine with Dr. Nida Chenagtsang and teaches the Tibetan art of mantra healing all over the world.
