Tune in to the sounds that compose your world. Join us for Deep Listening Workshops, based on the practice of Deep Listening developed by composer and sound pioneer Pauline Oliveros. Participants explore the difference between passive hearing and active listening, and delve into other aspects of the practice such as sonic meditations, body awareness, and listening to the sounds of daily life, nature, one’s own thoughts, imagination, and dreams. No previous experience needed.

About the Facilitator

Viv Corringham is a British vocalist and composer who studied and worked with Pauline Oliveros for many years, and holds a certificate in Deep Listening practice from the Deep Listening Foundation. She facilitates workshops in Deep Listening and “sounding,” most recently in Hong Kong and Manila. Her work includes concerts, soundwalks, and installations that explore people’s sense of place and the link with personal history and memory. She received two composer fellowships from McKnight Foundation, through American Composers Forum, and many grants and awards. Her work has received international recognition and been presented in twenty-two countries on five continents.
