6:00 PM–9:00 PM

Spiral Music presents acoustic music every Wednesday evening at the base of the Museum’s spiral staircase. Artists who specialize in music from the Himalayas and South Asia are invited to forge a connection between their music and the art in the galleries.

About the Musicians

Arun Ramamurthy is a versatile violinist who is making his mark in the Indian classical music scene. Trained in classical South Indian Carnatic music by the distinguished violinist Anantha Krishnan, and then later by the violin maestro brothers Dr. Mysore Manjunath and Sri Mysore Nagaraj, Arun has become an in-demand violinist in the United States.

Ehren Hanson began learning tabla when he was fifteen years-old under Misha Masud in New York City. In 2000, he was accepted as a disciple by the great Pandit Anindo Chatterjee and has developed into an exciting performer and a dynamic teacher. Hanson went on to teach rhythm as an assistant professor at Bard College in 2002, and in 2005 he received the prestigious Senior Performing Arts Fellowship from the American Institute of Indian Studies. He has had the honor of accompanying great musicians such as Pandit Debi Prasad Chatterjee, Pandit Subrata Roy Chaudhuri, Steve Gorn, and others.
