Awakening Practice with Guest Teacher Geshe Thupten Kunken

Morning Mindfulness in the Shrine Room

Contemplative practice has its roots in the living traditions of the Himalayas. Join Tashi Chodron and guest in the Tibetan Buddhist Shrine Room for a morning mindfulness session, which explores the connections between Himalayan culture, art, and practice. The 45-minute session includes 20 minutes of guided meditation that will explore different approaches, including mantra, mudra, and mindfulness.

About the Teacher


Ven. Geshe Thupten Kunken was born in Shimla, India and joined Drepung Loseling monastery at the of age 6. He received his novice vow from the 97th Ganden Tripa Kyabje Ling Rinpoche, the senior tutor of H. H. the 14th Dalai Lama. Geshe la received a Doctorate in Buddhist Philosophy (Geshe Lharampa) in 1999 and has also studied tantric practice. Geshe la’s first visit to United States was in 1996, and since than has been invited back annually to give talks and teachings at the Tibet House on Buddhist religion and philosophy.
