Bardo and the Resurrection

Tibetan Book of the Dead scholar and RMA Senior Curator Ramon Prats engages with a Christian priest on eastern and western understandings of the afterlife.
Fr. Leo O’Donovan was the 47th president of Georgetown University (1987-2001) having graduated from the university before entering the Society of Jesus. He earned advanced degrees in philosophy and theology from Fordham University and Woodstock College and was ordained to the priesthood in 1966. Under the direction of Karl Rahner, he earned his doctoral degree at the University of Münster in 1 971 and subsequently taught at Woodstock College, Union Theological Seminary, and Weston Jesuit School of Theology. A systematic theologian who has also written art criticism, he is Professor of Theology at Georgetown and currently resides at America House in New York City, where he writes, and lectures, in addition to being a Visiting Professor at Fordham University, the BMW Distinguished Visitor at The American Academy in Berlin, and currently a Lecturer in Systematic Theology at Union Theological Seminary. He is currently on the Board of Directors of the Walt Disney Company.
