Contemporary artists lead informal, topical talks within the museum’s galleries on Friday nights at 6:15 p.m.
In conversation with Assistant Curator Beth Citron, speakers from New York and international contemporary art scenes interact with and informally discuss the rich artistic traditions of the Himalayas and surrounding regions in relation to their own practices and processes.

About the Artist

Chitra Ganesh’s drawing based practice seeks to excavate buried narratives typically excluded from official canons of history, literature, and art. Ganesh graduated from Brown University, with a BA in Comparative Literature and Art Semiotics in1996. In 2001 she attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and received her MFA from Columbia University in 2002.
Her work as been exhibited internationally, including at PS1/MOMA(NY), ZKM (Germany), MOCA Shanghai, Saatchi Museum, Kunstalle Exnergrasse (Vienna), IVAM (Spain), & Gwangju Contemporary Arts Centre. Ganesh is the recipient of numerous awards, including grants in 2010 from the Art Matters Foundation, Lower East Side Printshop, and Joan Mitchell Foundation for Painting and Sculpture.
Her work has been exhibited most recently in solo exhibitions at Nature Morte Berlin and the Warhol Museum. Ganesh’s work is represented in collections of Museum of Modern Art, Brooklyn Museum, San Jose Museum of Art, Devi Art Foundation, Deutsche Bank, the Saatchi and Burger Collections.
Ganesh currently lives and works in Brooklyn.
