Best-selling authorDaniel Goleman discusses his new book, Ecological Intelligence, and what it means to be “green,” including unearthing the hidden environmental consequences of what we make and buy.
Goleman’s Emotional Intelligence was a #1 New York Times bestseller that sold over 1.6 million copies in hardcover and paperback. His books Working with Emotional Intelligence sold over 425,000 copies, and Primal Leadership, has sold over 200,000 in hardcover. With his new book he explores how we are in denial over the impacts of the products and services we create and consume—from plastic bags and water bottles to the sun tan lotions, shampoos, and cleaning products we use in our daily lives. This problem is intensified by the lack of information about producing, shipping, packaging, distributing, and discarding the goods we buy. Goleman doesn’t just point out our self-deception about “what is green,” but he frames fresh ways of thinking about the environmental problems our society and our planet faces so we can take action now.
