Jonatha Brooke
Naked Soul
Wednesday, April 15, 2009
8:00 PM–9:00 PM Free
The Works, rock-folk singer Jonatha Brooke’s seventh solo release, is a full-length album of previously unheard lyrics by Woody Guthrie, set to original music written and performed by Brooke, plus guest appearances by Keb’Mo’, Derek Trucks, Glen Phillips and Eric Bazilian. Brooke is one of a select group of artists to be invited into the Guthrie Archives to create new works from his vast collection of lyrics, prose, poetry and artwork. In this, her second Naked Soul concert, she compares Guthrie to the Tantric troubadour Drukpa Kinley of Bhutan who was equally licentious, ribald, and blissfully free of convention.
