Mindful Connections Online Mantras and Mindful Listening with Drukmo Gyal
For Visitors with Dementia and their Caregivers
Thursday, October 15, 2020
4:00 PM–5:00 PM
Mindful Connections Online is a free virtual program for people with dementia and their caregivers. Every month trained guides facilitate an online experience designed to promote engagement with works of art and other participants.
This October, Mindful Connections explores the power of mantra singing through active listening and recitation. Tibetan mantra singer Drukmo Gyal joins our teaching artists to offer a contemplative, soothing call-and-response style mantra meditation. Join in by lending your voice or practicing conscious listening.
This program takes place on select Thursdays in 2020. Register to receive your link to connect.
Mindful Connections is supported by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Milton & Sally Avery Arts Foundation.
About the Singer
Drukmo Gyal grew up in the multi-ethnic community of Rebgong, located in Amdo, Tibet, where healing through mantra is a part of people’s everyday lives. There she studied traditional Tibetan medicine and later worked at the Estonian Academy for Traditional Tibetan Medicine (EATTM) in Tallinn. Encountering European cultures pushed her to introduce healing mantras in the West. Since 2015 Drukmo has presented more than a hundred concerts in 30 countries with the support of Buddhist and yoga communities in Europe, America, and East Asia focusing on the power of mantra and meditation in mental and physical well being.
Registered attendees will be emailed a link to connect.
