Nicole Atkins

Naked Soul

Friday, August 5, 2016
7:00 PM–8:30 PM

The Rubin is thrilled to welcome Nicole Atkins back to the Museum for a Naked Soul performance. A rare artist whose timeless songwriting and raw, emotional voice spans the ages, Atkins will perform songs from her most recent and much-anticipated third album Slow Phaser.

The miasma of faded glamour and nostalgic pop-noir of her critically lauded debut album, Neptune City (2007), secured her place in Rolling Stone‘s “Top 10 Artists to Watch,” where they praised her “voice full of longing and Loretta Lynn elegance.” Atkins has been lauded as having a “penchant for creating enticingly mysterious pop-rock” (USA Today) and “a voice that could melt the heart of a devil,” with a “sense of humor dryer than a drought” (NPR).

About Naked Soul

Naked Soul presents performances from some of the country’s top singer/songwriters without microphones or amplifiers, as if the music were, acoustically speaking, naked. The musicians in the series draw upon the universal themes inherent in Himalayan art—spirituality, peace, tolerance, wisdom, compassion—on select Friday evenings. Learn More

Presented with Music Without Borders.

Musical performances at the Rubin Museum are made possible by the Carlo and Micól Schejola Foundation.

Naked Soul is made possible with funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
