Powerful Protection Tour

Memorial Day kickoff tour

Sunday, May 27, 2018
12:00 PM–1:00 PM

“The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.” (G. K. Chesterton). The U.S. Military’s tradition to protect and defend ideals, principles, and people is what makes it a trusted institution in the United States and throughout the world. Join us for a family exploration of “protection” and discover how this mission-critical concept is expressed through both peaceful and fierce paintings, sculptures, and narrative traditions in Himalayan culture.

About Blue Star Tours

Blue Star Museums offers free admission to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve, from Memorial Day through Labor Day. As a proud participant, the Rubin Museum of Art welcomes these families to join us for a series of special tours on select Sundays this summer. Each tour creates an engaging experience in the galleries, focusing on uplifting themes that build connections between Himalayan art and military life.
