Prasanna: Bowling for Peace

Electric Guitar

Friday, August 24, 2018
7:00 PM–8:30 PM

Indian guitar master Prasanna returns to the Rubin with a program of music exploring themes of peace, love, and prayer, featuring songs by Indian saint composers Tyagaraja, Dikshitar, and Syama Sastri along with original songs by Prasanna. Contemplative ragas that evoke feelings of “shantha rasa” (peace), “shringara rasa” (love) and “bhakti rasa” (prayer) will be explored.

“I want to call this concert “˜Bowling for Peace’ since it accentuates the meditative mood of the music and is also the title of one of my best-known songs. I invite you to sit back, relax, and transport yourself into an ethereal journey of Carnatic music filled with modern electric guitar soundscapes.”.

Presented with Harrice Miller Entertainment and community partner Sunny Thakkar.
