“The only one who knows, yet without knowing, is the highest desire, concealed of all concealed, Nothingness.” – Zohar, central text of Kabbalah (as translated by Daniel C. Matt)
What can Kabbalah, a sect of mystical Judaism, teach us about our existence? Comedian Sandra Bernhard responds to this question along with author Michael Cunningham (The Hours).
Michael Cunningham‘s novel The Hours won both the Pulitzer Prize and a PEN/Faulkner award and became an Academy Award-winning film starring Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore, and Meryl Streep. He is also the author of Flesh and Blood, Specimen Days, and A Home at the End of the World. His latest novel, By Nightfall, was published by FSG this September. He lives in New York.
For 25 years, comedian Sandra Bernhard has been challenging fans and critics with her knife-edged humor, satire, and emotive performances on film, television, and the stage.
