2014, USA, Jeffrey Brown, 97 min.

With Gillian Anderson, David Arquette, Sushmita Mukerjee, and Tillotama Shome

In Sold Gillian Anderson plays a photographer who tries to come to the rescue of Lakshmi, a thirteen-year-old trafficked from a pastoral, rural village in Nepal to a gritty brothel/prison in Kolkata, India. Based on true stories, the film tells the story of one extraordinary girl’s journey and the brutality of child trafficking, which affects millions of children globally every year. It is a call to action, and a testament to the power and resilience of the human spirit.

This film adaptation of the globally acclaimed novel by Patricia McCormick is due to be released next year, but Rubin Museum members will have the chance for a sneak preview before its wide release. Complimentary tickets are available only to Rubin Museum members at the Friend level or higher.
