Himalayan Heritage Meetup

Tuesday, February 23, 2016
6:30 PM–8:30 PM

Following a lively gallery tour led by Museum educator Tashi Chodron, representatives from the international Buddhist humanitarian organization Tzu Chi will lead a conversation on resilience, reconstruction, and their work. Tzu Chi members will also present a meditative flower arrangement ritual to end the program.

Tzu Chi Foundation (慈濟), literally “Compassionate Relief,” is an international humanitarian organization and a non-governmental organization (NGO) with an international network of volunteers and employees that has been awarded a special consultative status at the United Nations Economic and Social Council. Tzu Chi Foundation has several sub-organizations such as the Tzu Chi International Medical Association (TIMA) and the Tzu Chi Collegiate Youth Association (慈濟大專é’å¹´). Tzu Chi volunteers and relief workers are recognizable worldwide by their blue and white uniforms (Chinese: è—天白雲, lántiÄn báiyún, tr. “blue sky, white clouds”). Tzu Chi International is celebrating their 50th anniversary. www.tzuchi.us
