The RMA is now offering a program entitled Tibetan Medicine and Art: An Integration. Led by RMA Docent Denise Murphy, RN, DrPH, this program will explore Tibetan medicine, how it compares and contrasts with Western medicine, and how medical concepts are expressed in the art of the Himalayan region.
The program will combine both a theater and gallery activity in which visitors will be guided through an investigation of the field of Tibetan medicine as it is displayed in the Blue Beryl Thangkas, a seventeenth-century series of medical paintings based on a text under the same name, as well as paintings and sculptures in the RMA collection. This program is open to visitors of all ages and no background or experience is necessary.
