Tibetan Medicine

The Tibetan doctor Jampa Yonten will analyze and interpret one of the Rubin Museum’s medical thangkasas a way to understanding the precepts of traditional Tibetan medical practice.
Yonten is the medical director of the Tibetan Healing Center in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. Under the guidance of the late Trogawa Rinpoche, he graduated from the Chagpori Tibetan Medical Institute in Darjeeling. He also studied privately under the late Lobsang Chopal. He received the transmission of the fundamental medical text from the late Tenzin Chodrak. He received the Medicine Buddha practice from Kamtrul Rinpoche and the Yuthog Nying-thig from Taglung Tsetrul Rinpoche. In 2009 he completed the Menrampa course and examination offered at the Tibetan Medical and Astrological Institute in Dharamsala. He has received the Gold Medal from the Indian Board of Alternative Medicine.
