Visionary Circle Exclusive Tour at Bonhams

Wednesday, March 14, 2018
6:00 PM–7:30 PM

Exclusive for Visionary Circle members

Rubin Museum Visionary Circle Members are invited to join us for a private tour of the Bonhams Asia Week New York salesroom, led by Mark Rasmussen, head of sales for Indian, Himalayan, and Southeast Asian art at Bonhams in New York and Hong Kong.

You’ll get an insider’s view into the world of collecting and learn from a top expert in the field. Take in the lots available for auction, including a gilded 15th-century Tibetan sculpture of the thousand-armed Avalokiteshvara. This radiant piece from the height of Tibetan sculpture features a previously unread inscription that was translated for the first time, revealing eye-opening information about the artist and how the piece was commissioned.

Join or upgrade to the Rubin’s Visionary Circle today to be invited to this private tour. The Visionary Circle is a membership program for young patrons ages 21″“45. For more information, please contact Lori Feren at 212-620-5000 x259 or visionary@rubinmuseum.org.

About Mark Rasmussen

Since joining Bonhams in 2013, Mark Rasmussen has executed the department’s most successful sales. Rasmussen is responsible for the outstanding results of an 11th-century Kurkihar Crowned Buddha from Northeast India, the sale of which holds the record achieved at auction for a Pala-period bronze. Prior to joining Bonhams, Rasmussen contributed to various organizations, including a well-known art advisory, private gallery, international auction house, and the Rubin Museum of Art, where he pursued his particular passion for Hindu and Buddhist art.

Asia Week is made possible by Bonhams, Himalayan Art Resources – Celebrating 20 Years, and UOVO. Additional support has been provided by Bob and Lois Baylis, William Mayer, Ann and Matthew Nimetz, Shelley and Donald Rubin, Jane Casey and Bruce Miller, Michael McCormick, and David Pritzker. Beer lovingly provided by Brooklyn Brewery and signature cocktails featuring TKYU Sake.
