Walk With Me

Special Film Screening

Monday, November 26, 2018
1:00 PM–2:40 PM

2017, Max Pugh and Marc J. Francis, UK, 88 min.

“Mindfulness is to always arrive in the here and now.”

—Thich Nhat Hanh

Immerse yourself in the monastic life of Plum Village, a community founded by spiritual leader Thich Nhat Hanh. Filmed in France, New York, Mississippi, and California, Walk With Me observes the daily minutiae and meditation of people who have chosen to devote their lives to spirituality. This unique film, which premiered at the Rubin last year, is not necessarily about a destination or a lesson in peaceful living. Instead, it emphasizes a moment in time that acknowledges the impermanence of life and the temporal beauty of nature. This is symbolized in the walking meditation that opens the film.

Presented in partnership with the Madison Square Park Conservancy and Arlene Shechet’s installation Full Steam Ahead. Step into Monday with a free guided meditation around Full Steam Ahead led by meditation teacher Sebene Selassie at 7:00 AM. Attendees of a meditation will receive discount admission to a screening at the Rubin.
