Yoni Zilber is one of the few tattoo artists worldwide who specializes in Tibetan-style body art. Originally from Tel Aviv, Israel, he has settled in New York where he works at the tattoo shop New York Adorned. In 2007, Zilber met accomplished New York-based Tibetan painter Pema Rinzin, who agreed to mentor him. He continues to learn from Rinzin and to develop his understanding of the proportion, symbolism, and tradition essential to classical Tibetan art.
About Artists on Art
Contemporary artists lead informal, topical talks within the museum’s galleries on Friday nights at 6:15 p.m. In conversation with Assistant Curator Beth Citron, speakers from New York and international contemporary art scenes interact with and informally discuss the rich artistic traditions of the Himalayas and surrounding regions in relation to their own practices and processes.
