In our first week of The Rubin Daily Offering, meditation teacher and author Sharon Salzberg and Head of Programs Dawn Eshelman take inspiration from the revered Tibetan Buddhist deity Tara, who works for the benefit of all beings through her many forms.
Head of Programs Dawn Eshelman introduces us to a favorite sculpture of Green Tara at the Rubin, currently at home in the exhibition Gateway to Himalayan Art. Then Sharon Salzberg leads a brief meditation to help cultivate a sense of protection wherever you are.

Sharon Salzberg, cofounder of the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts, has guided meditation retreats worldwide since 1974. Sharon’s latest book is Real Love: The Art of Mindful Connection. She is weekly columnist for On Being, a regular contributor to the Huffington Post, and the author of several other books including the New York Times best-seller Real Happiness: The Power of Meditation, Faith: Trusting Your Own Deepest Experience, and Lovingkindness: The Revolutionary Art of Happiness. Sharon has participated in many onstage conversations at the Rubin.

Dawn Eshelman is head of programs at the Rubin Museum. She hosts the weekly Mindfulness Meditation series and podcast.
