Docent since 2012
As a high school teacher of world religions I had brought my classes to the Museum. After retiring from teaching in 2011 I received an email invitation from the Museum to consider becoming a docent.
In my tours I introduce the Museum’s Tibetan Buddhist Shrine Room through the five senses, asking visitors to relate what they can hear, smell, taste, touch, and see. I use objects in the Shrine Room and some objects they can touch, including a vajra and bell, a kata, and pouches of incense.
Typically leads tours:
Weekday-morning K-12 school tours; occasional weekday-afternoon college and public tours
Favorite tour themes:
Sacred Spaces and the Tibetan Buddhist Shrine Room; the Buddha; animals; mandalas
