Opening Night Celebration with Tasha Blank

Welcome to one of our biggest opening night celebrations of the year! In 2020 the Rubin is bringing together a full year of exhibitions, talks, programs, and experiences that awaken new ways of thinking about the concept of impermanence. DJ Tasha Blank headlines this special K2 Friday Night, which honors the new exhibition Measure Your Existence.The night also marks the launch of our annual Spiral magazine, a special Impermanence perfume available at the Rubin shop, and more interactive experiences. Join Tasha Blank’s dance party guided by heavy bass and global beats, beginning at 9:00 PM.

About the Exhibition

The exhibition Measure Your Existence questions and expands the Buddhist concept of impermanence through artworks by six contemporary artists who explore duration, survival, memory, fate, history, loss, disappearance, and reappearance.

Measure Your Existence is organized by guest curator Christine Starkman and produced by the Rubin Museum of Art, featuring artworks by Tehching Hsieh, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Lee Mingwei, Shilpa Gupta, Meiro Koizumi, and Taryn Simon.

About the DJ
Tasha Blank is a kinetic force of truth, glee & fury. An international DJ and dance floor instigator since 2010, she’s the founder of NYC’s wildest dance party The Get Down, and creator of the viral dance manifesto we came to dance. Known for ferocious live performances that sweep crowds into their rawest, sweatiest expression, Tasha’s original music invites listeners on a hypnotizing ride into even deeper, juicier territory. As a writer, coach & teacher, she combines a background in neuroscience, ontology, psychology and somatics to catalyze personal + collective paradigm shifts towards healing.
