An intriguing cinematic experiment: a feature film was fashioned out of an actual expedition to the Karakoram in 1934 in order to financially secure the mountaineers’ efforts. The first feature film shot at over 15,000 feet in the Himalayas, it boasts early footage of Srinigar in Kashmir, a vibrant score by Arthur Honegger, and the first filmed Cham dances in Ladakh.
