University Group Tours

Guided and Self-Guided Visits

Do you see a connection between your curriculum and Himalayan art, or simply want to explore the Rubin Museum with a group of fellow students? Our expert guides are experienced in leading tours for university groups. Students will leave with a more rigorous understanding of Himalayan art, ideas, and heritage.

To help us tailor a program for your academic needs, simply fill out the University Group Visit Reservation Form.

 

GROUP TOUR FEES

Groups of 10 or more* pay a per person rate for a private Museum tour.

  • All University Partners faculty, students, and staff: $7.00 each
  • Students, faculty, and staff: $20.00 each

 

K2 Friday Night Group Tours

Groups of 10 or more* pay a discounted per person rate for a private Museum tour every Friday night between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM. Please note that these tours are 30 minutes in length.

  • All University Partners faculty, students, and staff: $7.00 each
  • Students, faculty, and staff: $10.00 each

Founder’s Favorites

The seeds of the Rubin Museum were planted when Shelley and Donald Rubin felt a powerful connection to a painting of White Tara while traveling in the Himalayas. The experience inspired them to begin collecting Himalayan art, and to eventually found the Rubin Museum. This tour spotlights some of their most beloved pieces.

SELF-GUIDED VISIT FEES

Groups of 10 or more benefit from a reduced admission with advanced registration . Please keep in mind that self-guided groups must schedule their visit and follow our group visit guidelines.

  • Students, faculty, and staff: $13.00 each

GROUP VISIT GUIDELINES

Reservations must be made at least three weeks in advance. The Rubin Museum is closed on Tuesdays.

One guide is assigned to every fifteen people.

*The Rubin Museum of Art can accommodate tour groups of under 10 visitors, with a minimum payment of 10 tickets.

ACCESSIBILITY AT THE MUSEUM

The Museum welcomes all visitors and offers guided tours and programs to accommodate all audiences including monthly tours for visitors with Alzheimer’s and dementia and Verbal Description and Sensory Tours.
