Chris Merwin – shakuhachi

Chris Merwin is classically trained on the shakuhachi, an end blown bamboo flute from Japan, and has been playing for 27 years. He has spent extensive time in Japan studying both the shakuhachi and Japanese culture. In addition to the shakuhachi, Chris plays the Hawaiian steel guitar, Colombian tiple, Irish bouzouki, Portugese guitar, guitar and steel drum. He is also a vocalist. Chris has performed at the United Nations, Yale University, the New York and Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, and the Omega Institute among other venues.
