Spiral Music

Wednesday, April 11, 2018
6:00 PM–9:00 PM

Spiral Music presents acoustic music every Wednesday evening at the base of the Museum’s spiral staircase. Artists who specialize in music from the Himalayas and South Asia are invited to forge a connection between their music and the art in the galleries.

About the Musicians

Composer and improviser Dawoud has performed at the Rubin on many occasions, either in a duet for the Spiral Music series or with larger groups such as the Brooklyn Raga Massive All Stars. These performances have included improvisations on his compositions, Indian ragas, and themes both contemporary and traditional.

Kaveh Haghtalab is an Iranian kamancheh player and drummer. A performer since the age of 14, he was selected to become a member of the Center for Preservation and Propagation of Iranian Music and won the first title in the Fajr International Music Festival. In 2012 he came to the United States to study Western music and received a diploma from the Collective School of Music. Since then he has been performing throughout the U.S. as a soloist and member of other bands.
