Sports and business reporter Zach Schonbrun‘s forthcoming book The Performance Cortex: How Neuroscience Is Redefining Athletic Genius, explores what actually drives human movement and its spectacular potential. He’ll be joined onstage by Jason Sherwin, cofounder and CEO of deCervo, a neuro-tech startup based in New York City that measures and improves cognitive performance, and Harold Reynolds, an American League Baseball All-Star and Emmy-winning sports analyst, to dive into the science behind elite sporting performance.

About the Speakers

Harold Reynolds, a two-time American League All-Star and twelve-year Major League Baseball veteran, is a two-time Sports Emmy-winning analyst appearing across MLB Network’s programming. Reynolds appears on the Emmy-winning flagship studio show MLB Tonight during the regular season, and during the offseason Reynolds and Matt Vasgersian co-host the weekday morning show Hot Stove.

Zach Schonbrun has been a contributing writer for the New York Times since 2011, primarily covering sports and business. Six of his articles have appeared on the newspaper’s front page. He graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in economics in 2009 and earned a master’s degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism in 2011. His work has also appeared in ESPN magazine, Newsday, The Washington Post, Yahoo! Sports, VICE, and SB Nation Longform. In January 2015, he published an Amazon Kindle Single, One Great Shoe, which was selected as one of the best Kindle Singles of the year. He currently lives in New York City with his wife.

Jason Sherwin, Ph.D., is cofounder and Chief Executive Officer of deCervo, a neuro-tech startup based in New York City that measures and improves cognitive performance.
