Shyam Nepali is considered one of Nepal’s most extraordinary sarangi players. His background includes 20 years of being a sarangi musician and receiving traditional instruction via one generation to the other. Shyam’s extraordinary creative gifts continue to be shared with communities, educational, cultural and arts settings throughout America and the world. He has done project work in Asia, and Europe including: France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and Norway. He joins Dance Theater of Nepal with programs at The Children’s Museum, Nantucket Museum,”Inside-Out” concert and The Rubin Musuem of Art. His great interest is in sharing friendship and peaceful understanding among world cultures. Raj Kapoor continues to serve as Dance Theater of Nepal’s Music & Dance Director (now in its 17th year). His performing and teaching activities are ongoing throughout New York and beyond including at: Nantucket Museum, Childrens Museum of Art, Rubin Museum of Art, The American Folklore Festival in Bangor Main, and at variety of national and international folk arts festivals. He is expert on all eastern drums and mentors a variety of age groups in Nepali folk and film style dance forms. Kapoor’s inspiring role as a leader both within the Nepali community and the larger community of American audiences is evidenced by the variety of performances he has undertaken. Schools, Universities, Convention centers, Embassies, Museums, Art Studios, Cultural and Community Centers.
