A Line of Thought

Vocal Workshop with Samita Sinha

Monday, August 7, 2017
6:30 PM–8:30 PM

What are the aesthetics of a voice? In this workshop, Samita Sinha invites artists of all disciplines and levels to explore the sonic elements of vocal expression, including time, space, composition, texture, timbre, and pitch, and to use their voices as instruments of mark-making.

Join Sinha and engage these elements to discover different ways of creating a line of musical thought. With a focus on responsive listening and embodiment, Sinha supports the development of each person’s unique vocal expression as a form of live composition.

This workshop builds upon Sinha’s previous workshop, Voice as Matter, offered on July 10; however, attending that workshop is not a requirement for participation.

This exhibition is made possible through the generosity of HARMAN. Major support is provided by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and Rasika and Girish Reddy. The Rubin also thanks Preethi Krishna and Ram Sundaram and contributors to the 2017 Exhibitions Fund.
