Tess Sholom

Docent since 2007

I happened upon the Museum one afternoon and immediately felt like I was in an atmosphere of the marvelous. I just wanted to bask in the feeling of tranquility and in the beauty of the art. Ever since my first visit I have wanted to spend as much time at the Museum as possible.

Often, at the end of my tour, someone thanks me for helping them to decode some of the intricacies of the art. It’s a great feeling to bring someone closer to loving the art as much as I do.

Typically leads tours:

Wednesday afternoons

Favorite tour themes:

Female deities; Tantric Buddhism; the life of the Buddha
I love the stories and tours that explain how the religion is illustrated in the art as well as Buddhism’s cultural journey along trade routes
