Traveling Exhibitions and Loans Registrar – [Hybrid]

The Traveling Exhibitions and Loans Registrar will assist in organizing, managing and caring for the Museum’s collection, and will support the implementation of the Museum’s traveling exhibitions and loan programs. The main responsibilities includes planning, preparing, and couriering works for Rubin traveling exhibitions, loans program, and art projects.

The Traveling Exhibitions and Loans Registrar will work very closely with the DCAC team and primarily with the Senior Collections Manager & Provenance Researcher and the Exhibitions Manager.

This is a full-time exempt position that is hybrid eligible with a workweek schedule of Mondays through Fridays with core work hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with some flexibility as needed especially during installation/deinstallation periods.

This position requires up to 50% of extensive travel both locally, nationally and possibly internationally.

The incumbent will report to the Director of Curatorial Administration and Collections.

Social Media Manager – [Hybrid]

The Social Media Manager plays a key role in bringing the Rubin’s brand to life across its social platforms, evolving the Museum’s social media presence and growing its digital audiences. As an integral part of the Marketing and Communications team, the Social Media Manager collaborates with staff across the organization to develop social-first content that promotes the Museum’s global exhibitions, projects, and collection; educates and engages audiences; and supports the institution’s mission and goals.

This position is responsible for organic, paid, and influencer strategies, helping to build authentic relationships and provide personally meaningful digital experiences.

The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with a clear perspective and an innate understanding of content that can grow cultural awareness of the Rubin.

This is a full-time, hybrid, eligible and exempt position with a workweek schedule of Mondays through Fridays with core work hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with some flexibility as needed.

The incumbent will report to the Head of Communications and Marketing.

InternshipsInternships

The Rubin offers semester-long internships to qualified undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates interested in various fields within the Museum. Interns engage in assigned projects and have opportunities to learn more about the museum field through close interaction with other museum departments.

Interns receive a $600 monthly stipend from the museum. Academic requirements will be fulfilled by arrangement with the individual college or university.

Apprentice Museum Educator

The Apprentice Museum Educator (AME) program is a position that teaches practical skills to university students or recent graduates interested in future careers in the arts, specifically programming and museum education for school and family audiences and/or adult audiences. Participants develop an understanding of facilitating teaching programs and museum administration.

Collections Management Internship

The Collections Management Intern works closely with the Collections Manager, Registrar and Department Administrator on several projects including object record updates within the collections database. The Collections Department is currently working on a large-scale file organization and digitization project. This position will be directly involved in this project, digitizing collections documents from historical exhibitions and assisting with ongoing data cleanup projects in the collections database (TMS). Interns will also have the opportunity to manage aspects of the library database (LibraryWorld). Interns also have the opportunity to learn art storage and art handling procedures.

The Rubin’s in-house creative team is seeking a graphic design intern to assist in the Marketing & Communications Department. The intern will work closely with the Marketing & Communications team and report directly to the Head of Graphics & Branding.

Studio Institute Arts Intern Program

The Museum will be offering internships through ARTS Intern, a program of Studio Institute. The ARTS Intern program places college undergraduates from diverse cultural backgrounds in paid summer internships at New York City museums. Eligible applicants must show a financial need and must either be New York City residents or enrolled in a college or university within the five boroughs of New York City.
