Bhairava, a wrathful emanation of the deity Shiva, stands in a dynamic warrior pose with ten arms and five heads. Many cultures in India have a cyclical sense of time, and throughout each cycle there will be stages of creation, sustentation, and destruction. Bhairava is often associated with the stage of destruction, a necessary step for creation to begin again.
