This week’s meditation session is led by Sharon Salzberg and the theme is Beginning Again.

Phakmo Drupa Dorje Gyelpo (1110-1170) with His Previous Incarnations and Episodes from His Life; Central Tibet; ca. 1270; Pigments on cloth; Rubin Museum of Himalayan Art; C2005.16.38
This painting depicts the great Tibetan Buddhist Master Phakmo Drupa. Born to a poor family in Kham region of Tibet, Phakmo Drupa spent most of his life as a spiritual seeker. Eventually, after spending four days carrying rocks and earth to create a stupa, he was able to gain an audience with the great Tibetan master Gampopa, the main disciple of saint Milarepa. Though he had studied with other masters, Phakmo Drupa finally gained enlightenment under the guidance of Gampopa, showing that it’s never too late to begin again as a student.
