This week’s meditation session is led by Tracy Cochran and the theme is Mantra.
Om is a sacred syllable found throughout the religious traditions of the Himalayas, including Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, and Sikhism. Considered the primordial sound of creation, the syllable is often used to begin and end mantras or sacred prayers, to invoke particular deities, and to achieve deeper states of understanding. According to certain traditions of Hinduism, saying om connects the individual self to a wider reality, reminding all of us of our true, fundamental nature.
